Unlike our patented PatioLock model that locks common sliding doors without screwing, our BASE model (along with ALL other pet doors on the market) DO require Screwing, Cutting, Drilling, Handy Skills & Tools to install AND will also leave holes in your sliding door frame and the pet door system.

So, run through the Order checklist steps on the home page to see if your frames and locks are common and compatible with the Patiolock model and order that.

IF you do not have compatible locks (ie., rare internal lock mechanisms) and/or thick timber/commercial frames and/or are on a very tight budget and only plan on using the panel in a laundry door, then read below about the Base Model. 

What is the Base Model?

Our base model is the pet door panel on its own with the option to ADD a screen door adapter to transfer locks for your glass and/or screen door. As noted above, this is the model where you MUST screw, cut, drill etc to to lock your sliding door using the existing door handle. 

So, who buys the Base Model?

Base model pet doors are rarely sold as they only suit the following two sliding door/customer profiles that are quite rare:

1. Base model for Internal Locking Sliding Glass Doors

If your sliding GLASS door locks on to a little hook in the channel in the wall frame like in the picture below then you will need the base model AND a screen door adapter to lock the glass door if you want to use the existing door handle to lock. These locks are rare and need to be within the 8-12mm screw measurement detailed below. 

Again, this is the GLASS door lock, not the screen door locks which look the same as this but will be in the wall frame channel the 'screen' closes in to.  

Obviously, handy skills, tools, screwing, etc is invovled with INTERNAL locks and setting up a base model with a screen door adapter. Luckily there are very rare. 

2. Base model for customers on a budget AND fitting to a laundry door (not a living area).

For customers on a budget AND that are planning on putting the pet door in a laundry, then some opt for the base model and get the adjustable screen door adapter (so no cutting and it can be re-used if you move) and cut a rod/dowel and place that in the track behind the glass door.

If you are putting a pet door in a living area then customers go wtih the security and convenience of the PatioLock model.

How is the Base Model different to the PatioLockTM model?

Unlike our patented PatioLockTM model, the Base Model does NOT have its own locks to lock the glass door, so another method to secure the glass door is needed, which tends to involve some degree of screwing, drilling, cutting, handy skills, time, hardware, inconvenience, and so on. 

If you have common single or two hook rotating locks on your glass door handle- then just get the patiolock model. Click on the link below to order.

Shipping Costs:

Please note a flat Australia-wide shipping fee is not possible for the pet doors because they are over 1.2m long and thus incur manual handling and over-size item fees in addition to the actual freight charges and domestic delivery surcharges and fuel levy surcharges, etc. Most couriers including Australia Post can not be used due to the over 1.2m issue.

So, in order to streamline checkout for most, there are a few common zones to choose from at checkout that cover most of the highly populated areas along the east coast and Perth metro.

If you live in more rural areas then please select the first option for $1. We will then email you an invoice based on our cost to your address depending on the courier used.

If you prefer, you can email before ordering for a freight quote.

Unfortunately, we have to use multiple couriers depending on location and warehouse origin so it is not possible to use an accurate freight calculator at checkout. The zone model is the best system we can come up with thus far to cover most of the populated areas.
